New Year’s Slalom 2016

The first event of the new year, Bob and I hadn’t organised an event since the New Year’s day Autotest a good few years ago, but we jumped at the chance to resurrect the event into the all forward type which most competitors seem to want to do and to move it to a Sunday.

Entries came in nice and quick and we started the day with 36 competitors ready to blow the cobwebs out after the Christmas break, the only thing we can’t organise is the weather and it was terrible! Very heavy rain combined with a strong wind.

We had a really good mix of cars and drivers from our club and several other local clubs and after the morning tests one of about six drives could still win the event. After a quick break to let the marshals dry off the sun came out and things really heated up.

After 14 tests Graham Hoare took FTD, with some new faces taking other class awards.

I’d like to thank all the competitors for entering and still coming even with the weather and I’d really like to thank the marshals, set-up and results for putting up with the cold and wet weather and making the slalom such a success.

Thanks to everyone, see you on the 14th February at the Blandford Slalom.
