BOURNEMOUTH AND DISTRICT CAR CLUB STATEMENT REGARDING THE SMEATHARPE VENUE
Since 2004 Bournemouth & District Car Club has been successfully hosting the ‘3 Counties Stages’ at Smeatharpe and this was joined from 2007 by the ‘Smeatharpe Stages’.
Running two events so far from our home base for over ten years is not easy logistically and has only been possible by the goodwill of members giving up their valuable time.
However, the number of people being able to help has been declining, this coupled with an increased workload for event organisers and rising costs have resulted in the Club having to make some difficult decisions.
Therefore, for 2018, Bournemouth & District Car Club will not be organising any rally at Smeatharpe.
After consulting with the landowner and other event organising teams we are pleased to announce the event on 17th June will be taking place and being organised by Burnham-on Sea and Taunton Motor Club’s under the ‘Wildlife Autosport’ name.
The event scheduled for September 2nd will not be taking place and the date has been handed back to the landowner.
Bournemouth & District Car Club firmly believe this is the best way forward and allows rallying to continue at the venue.
Bournemouth & District Car Club will continue to promote a wide range of motorsport events including single venue rallies at Bovington, starting with the two day Bovington Stages taking place on 3rd & 4th March, and Challenger Stages on 18th November along with sprint events at Clay Pigeon, slaloms at Blandford Camp, other grass roots events and a social event calendar.
