RESULTS – TREASURE HUNT 2025

An appropriate entry of 6 crews took on the Tanner Treasure Hunt which took place in the area around Sixpenny Handley.

51 clues were there to be found along the 42 mile route with all but one being uncovered by at least one crew.  As everyone failed to add up all of the numbers that were plastered over a signpost very near the end of the route.

From the start at Cranborne Garden Centre, where the organiser arrived later than most of the crews, the route meandered first North via Wimborne St Giles and Sixpenny Handley to the spectacular roads off the Ox Drove between Ebbesborne Wake and the top of Zig Zag Hill.   It then turned South via Ashmore to the various Tarrants and then back to the Horton Inn via the Witchampton and Moor Crichel.

The result was close, in fact a tie with the joint victors being The Button Mooners and Bird with the decisive differences being a cottage name early on and a hard to see sign on a mobile phone mast.

With the two leaders just 4 short of a clean sheet, third spot was taken by Candy with a clear lead over the final three crews who had just one point between them.  That said it did seem to be a question of more haste etc. as the final three enjoyed a considerably longer lunch back at the Horton Inn so they may have actually not lost out at all!

Thanks to Better Luck Next Time (Dave with his incredibly accomplished route reader), Ian Collins Motorport and Stanfield for coming out to support the event.

Hopefully everyone enjoyed themselves – the weather was kind and some of the views and scenery were quite special.  And we raised £55 for charity!
